Naya Prakashan Pvt Ltd is organising the second Naya Patrika Swing and Win Corporate Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club on April 4.

A total of 100 players, mostly from corporate sector, will take part in the one-day tournament which will be played under stableford ¾ handicap format, informed the organisers at a press meet today.

The event is divided into four categories — men, women, gross and senior — and the winners and runners-up will receive gift hampers worth Rs 300,000. Apart from that, the winners of field prizes in most birdies, closest-to-the-pin and longest drive will also get gift hampers. The Hole-in-One winner will get at Tiago car worth Rs 2.85 million, informed event coordinator Sarmistha Pandit.

President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire lauded the Naya Prakashan Pvt Ltd for organising the event. “The event was one of the best managed tournaments last year and it will definitely help in the development of the sport,” Ghimire added.

President of Royal Nepal Golf Club Rabindra Man Shrestha said golf was not the sport for only rich people. “This event has a target of attracting people from corporate sector but golf does not belong to only the rich people as it is a social golf. The equipment used in golf are relatively expensive than other sports but it is affordable and most of the stars of the game aren’t from rich families. The game is growing and I hope organisers will continue to support the sport in coming days as well,” he said.

Senior Golf Director at Gokarna Golf Club Deepak Acharya thanked Naya Prakashan for sponsoring the tournament. “As the event is organised by a media house, I believe the sport has reached out to the public,” said Acharya.
