APF beat Central in CoAS Cup final
Lalitpur, November 9
Nepal APF Club defeated Central Region 3-1 to win the title of the CoAS fourth International Women’s Football Tournament here at the Army Physical Training and Sports Centre today.
Sabitra Bhandari scored a brace and Anita Basnet netted a goal for APF, while Nisha Thokar was the lone scorer for Central.
APF’s Bhandari opened the scoring in the 26th minute and doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute.
Central’s Thokar cut the deficit in the 66th minute before Basnet sealed the victory for APF in the 82nd minute.
Winners APF earned a purse of Rs 300,000, while runners-up Central got Rs 150,000. The two losing semi-finalists Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club received Rs 50,000 each.
APF’s Sabitra Bhandari was adjudged the best player of the tournament and received a scooter.
APF’s Saru Limbu won the best forward award, while Janak Singh was named the best coach. Central’s Anjana Rana Magar received the best goalkeeper award and Nisha Thokar was adjudged the best defender.
Likewise, TAC’s Sumitra Yonjan received the best midfielder. The Individual award winners received Rs 10,000 each.
Chief of the Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri handed over the prizes to the winners. A total of nine teams, including a team from India, three departmental teams and five development regions, took part in the event.
