APF make winning start

Nepal APF Club registered win in the opening match of the first Didibahini Cup Women’s Volleyball Tournament here in Kusma today.

In the Group A match, APF defeated Nepal Police Club in straight sets. APF dominated the game from the beginning and never looked back. They won the first set 25-14 and claimed the next two sets 25-16 and 25-17 to win the match.

Meanwhile, the match between New Diamond Sports Club and Western Regional Volleyball Association of Group B was postponed because of adverse weather condition. New Diamond were close to victory as storm and rain spoiled the match. New Diamond, who took first two sets 25-3 and 25-15, were leading the third set 19-14. According to the hosts, the match will be played again on Thursday.

Participating teams APF, NPC and hosts Radio Didibahini are in Group A, while New Diamond, Western Region and Tribhuvan Army Club are in Group B.

The winners and runners-up of the tournament will get Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000, while best spiker, setter, defender, quicker and blocker will be awarded with Rs 3,000 each.
