Nepal post 239 target to New Zealand
KATHMANDU: Nepali under 19 cricket team have posted a target of 239 to New Zealand in their match in the U-19 ICC Cricket World Cup held at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Bangladesh on Thursday.
Nepal batted first after New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first.
Nepal made a total of 238 runs with a loss of seven wickets in 50 0vers.
Nepal lost their first wicket when Christian Leopard bowled Sunil Dhamala after he contributed 15 runs to the scoreboard with three 4s.
Nepal faced a loss of another wicket with Yogendra Singh Karki in the 11.4 overs bowled by Leopard and with Surendra Sunar when he was bowled by Rachin Rabindra at 18.3 overs after scoring 39 runs with three 4s and one 6.
Rajbir Singh and Aarif Shiekh made a partnership of 47 runs off 10.1 overs after Raju Rijal was bowled by Josh Finne. Rijal made 48 runs with six 4s from 65 balls.
An over apart, Shiekh and Singh both lost their wickets after being bowled by Nathan Smith after scoring 39 and 24 runs respectively.
Dipendra Singh Airee made 16 runs off 17 balls with one 4 before being bowled by Smith.
Kushal Bhurtel and Prem Tamang, both not out, contributed 35 and 4 runs at the end of the first innings.
Nepal are in Group D along with India, Ireland and New Zealand.
Altogether 16 countries including Nepal are taking part in the tournament with teams divided into four groups.
