NOC president extends best wishes at farewell programme
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 17
The Nepal Canoe and Kayak Team has flown to China to compete in the 2025 Nu Jiang Wildwater Canoeing Asian Championships, scheduled from December 16 to 22 in Nu Jiang Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.
Ahead of the team's departure, Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) President Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the contingent at a special programme organised at the NOC office in Kathmandu. NOC Secretary General Rajiv Shrestha, who is also the President of the Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association, was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the athletes and officials, President Shrestha encouraged them to compete with confidence, discipline and sportsmanship, and to uphold Nepal's pride on the international stage. He expressed confidence in the team's preparation and underscored the importance of international exposure for the growth of canoeing and kayaking in Nepal.
The championship is being organised by the Chinese Canoe Association.
The Nepali contingent comprises two officials, Surya Prasad Joshi and Mahesh Thapa, and two athletes, Krishna Khadka and Ranjan Kadel. Secretary General of the Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association, Sudip Raj Gautam, also attended the farewell programme.
The NOC wished the team a successful competition and a safe journey.
