Nepal face Tajikistan in crucial tie today

Kathmandu, October 9

Nepal will take on Tajikistan in their away match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Hisor Central Stadium on Tuesday.

Nepal, who are in Group F along with Tajikistan, Philippines and Yemen, are in a must-win situation in their bid to finish top two in the group and earn berth for next year’s finals to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Nepal have already played three matches in their group and are at the bottom with a point that they earned after playing a goalless draw against Yemen at home.

Nepal lost to the Philippines 4-1 in away match and faced a 2-1 defeat against Tajikistan in their home match. Currently, Philippines are at the top of the table with seven points, while Yemen are second with five points. Tajikistan, who defeated Nepal at the ANFA Complex grounds on September 5, are third with three points.

As Nepal have two more matches to play, a win against Tajikistan will keep them in the hunt. Nepal will host the Philippines and play away match against Yemen.

The participating 24 teams have been divided into six groups with top two each qualifying for the finals where they will join 12 already-qualified teams.
