Nepal lose to Sri Lanka in semi-finals
KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket team faced a defeat against Sri Lanka by 41 runs in the semi-finals of the women's cricket on-going in Pokhara, losing the chance to add another gold to Nepal's total, today.
Sri Lanka had won the toss and decided to bat first scoring 118 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the semi-finals. Chasing the target of 119 runs, Nepali women's cricket team only managed to score 77 runs at the loss of nine wickets.
Only Rubina Chhetri, Apsara Begam, Kabita Kunwar and Karuna Bhandari scored in double digits for Nepal.
Sri Lankan bowler Sachin Nishansala took three wickets.
Earlier, Sri Lanka's Lihini Apsara scored the highest 37 runs while Janadi Anali added 35 runs for Sri Lanka.
Saraswati Kumari and Sonu Khada took two wickets each for Nepal.
With this loss, Nepal will face the Maldives on Saturday with hopes of bagging a bronze medal while Sri Lanka will play against Bangladesh in the finals of the events.
