Nepal move three-position up, Germany retain top spot in FIFA ranking

KATHMANDU: Nepal moved three positions up in this month's FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) ranking, which are based on results over a four-year period, as published this evening.

According to FIFA, Nepal have moved three positions up to 162nd from 165th position in this month's world wide ranking with 111 points.

India, top ranked teams among the SAARC nations, moved two-position up to 97th with 354 points.

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan remained static in 197th, 200th and 203rd positions respectively. However, Maldives and Bhutan languishing in 150th and 188th positions in last month's ranking moved four and three positions up respectively in this month's ranking.

World Champions Germany retained their top spot in world football with 1384 points. Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina are ranked top four teams respectively in this month's ranking.

Likewise, Switzerland, France, Spain, Chile and Poland complete the list of top ten nations in world football. Chile is one of the top ranked teams not featuring in this year's World Cup in Russia.
