Nepal national team squad unveiled for Street Child WC

Kathmandu, November 19

Shelter Ashraya Nepal picked up nine footballers for the Street Child World Cup  to be held in Moscow, Russia from May 19-27 next year.

Three  goalkeepers, four midfielders and two strikers were selected for the  seven-a-side tournament, informed Shelter Ashraya Nepal’s Project Leader  Santosh Karki at a press meet today. Aron Karki, Manbir Lama and  Bikash Timalsina are the custodians, while Roshan Bhushal, Ramesh Shah,  Sachin BK and Santosh Khatri are midfielders. Harsha Thakuri  and Pawan Shahi are strikers.

Similarly, Bishal Badi, Raju, Roshan Karki, Raju Badi, and Jibit Kumar Tharu have been listed as reserve players. Shelter Ashraya Nepal had organised national football league  and called 26 players for training. Karki said the players were selected based on their football skills and disciplines after three weeks of training.

Meanwhile,  All Nepal Football Association spokesperson Sanjib Mishra  said playing in World Cup was a great opportunity for the players. “The players will  not only play matches but they will also get to learn many things during the World Cup. They  will get the opportunity to watch other players’ game and learn from them,” said Mishra. “We are ready to support  them in best possible way.”

Shelter Ashraya Nepal’s President Khusbu Oli said the team will continue participating in the school-level football tournaments after returning from Russia.
