KATHMANDU, JANUARY 27
Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Secretary General Rajiv Shrestha represented Nepal at the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held on January 26, 2026, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The General Assembly brought together representatives from all 45 Asian National Olympic Committees and was attended by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the Assembly, Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar was unanimously elected as the new President of the Olympic Council of Asia. He becomes the 22nd President to lead the Olympic Movement in Asia since the first-ever Asian multi-sport Games held in 1913.
The Nepal Olympic Committee extended congratulations to Sheikh Joaan on his election and expressed its commitment to continued cooperation with the OCA in promoting Olympic values, unity and sports development across the Asian region.
