KATHMANDU: The Asian Weightlifting Federation on Thursday decided to give the hosting rights of next year’s Youth and Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship to Nepal.

The AWF Congress held in Tokyo on Wednesday picked Nepal as the hosts ahead of others bidders Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Uzbekistan, informed Nepal Weightlifting Association General Secretary Parth Sarath Sen Gupt. The championship will be held from July 21-30.

NWA was supposed to host the senior Asian Championship in August last year but that was shifted to Thailand due to the devastating earthquake. NWA President Ratan Tandon and Gupt attended the congress held on the sidelines of the Asian Youth and Junior Championships.
