Nepal qualify for U-16 Finals

Nepal made it to the AFC U-16 Championship Finals as the fourth best runners-up team in the qualifiers that concluded in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.

Nepal, who defeated Jordan 2-1 in the opening match and came from two goals down to beat hosts Kyrgyzstan 4-2 in the second match, finished second in the Group B after they suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Oman in the last match on Sunday. Nepal were confirmed as the runners-up behind Oman after Kyrgyzstan defeated Jordan 4-1 in a late match.

Nepal earned the fourth and final best runners-up spot for the 16-team finals to be held from September 15 to October 2 in India next year. India, who finished second in Group E, were confirmed for the finals as hosts.

Uzbekistan, Oman, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, Australia and Japan earned tickets as 11 group winners, while Vietnam, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates were the first three best runners-up teams.
