NSJF Kaski to honour ex-athlete Ranabhat

Kaski Coordination Committee of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today decided to felicitate former athlete Khadga Ranabhat with the Life Time Achievement honour at the second Pokhara Sports Award on August 5.
The 69-year-old Ranabhat, former coach and member of National Sports Council, had represented Nepal in the sixth Asian Games held in Thailand in 1970. He had participated in the in the 3,000m steeplechase race. The selection committee also unveiled the nominees in four categories. The committee picked up cricketer Karan KC, lawn tennis player Kumar Adhikari and handball player Bishal Basnet in men’s section, while karateka Sushmi Shrestha, weightlifter Tika Maya Gurung and spiker Aruna Shahi were named as the nominees in the women’s category.
Similarly, Sun Bahadur Lama of taekwondo, Bakhat Man Shrestha of weightlifting and Indra Malla of athletics were selected in the coach’s category, whereas Mamata Dangol (volleyball), Darshana Budha Magar (athletics) and Sagar Nepali (athletics) were nominated in the rising player section which was added from this year.
The Kaski Coordination Committee will announce winner among three nominees in all four categories. The winners will get the award along with cash. Meanwhile, the committee decided to honour Kaski District Lawn Tennis Association with the best association award.
