Nepal to play against Kuwait today

KATHMANDU: Nepal national football team is all set to face Kuwait during the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers match at Chaglimithang Stadium, Bhutan, on Tuesday.

According to a statement published by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Head Coach Johan Kalin, during a pre-match press conference, said, “It’s an important game for us. We really need to bounce back. We will fight hard. I need to focus on the players that we have here. My players are in good mood all the way from airport and are ready to fight hard."

"We will look for good performance like the other game. Kuwait has been doing very well in the qualifiers but we are confident," he added.

Similarly, Nepal’s skipper Kiran Kumar Limbu stressed that the team is ready to give their tough fight against Kuwait.

Likewise, during the conference, head coach of Kuwait football team Thamer Enad said, "We hope that we will play a good match and take the three points. We are not going to take Nepal lightly; Nepal is not a weak team. The atmosphere will favour Nepal for sure. They have the same kind of weather in Nepal as well."

"We will play for three points and stand second on the group. Our players are not so familiar playing in the artificial turf but few of my boys have experience playing at the turf," Thamer added.

The Changlimithag Stadium in Thimpu will serve Nepal as the home venue. The ANFA was forced to find the neutral venue after the AFC refused to approve the under-construction Dasharath Stadium for the Asian Qualifiers ties for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
