KATHMANDU: Nepal won bronze medal in the U-14 category of the Asian Junior Tennis Cup in Doha on Monday.

The team of Samrakshyan Bhushan Bajracharya and Pranav Khanal defeated hosts Qatar 2-1 to finish third in the championship, informed coach Surya Bhushan Bajracharya.

Khanal registered a 6-4, 6-2 victory in singles, while Bajracharya fought hard for a 6-0, 7-6 win after he fell 1-4 behind in the second set.

Nepal lost 6-0, 6-2 in doubles. Nepal, who lost to India in the first round, had made it to the last four after beating Qatar.

Nepal lost to Hong Kong in the semi-finals. This is the second year Nepal won bronze in the championship.
