Nepali shuttlers suffer in friendlies

KATHMANDU: The Korean national level shuttlers defeated the national badminton players in all of the friendly matches played here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

The Nepali shuttlers, who participated at the 11th South Asian Games, played three men's singles and doubles matches and lost all of them.

In the first singles match, Ratnajeet Tamang suffered 21-8, 21-19 loss from Park Sung Min. In another match,Sajan Krishna Tamrakar lost to Lee Han Bit 21-14, 21-16 and Kishore Rana bowed down to Kim Sung Jo 21-6, 21-13.

In the men's doubles, the pair of Ratajeet and Bibek Shrestha lost 21-13, 21-14 to the pair of Song Chang Yeop and Kim Sung Jo. Likewise, the pair of Bishal Pradhan and Sahadev Khadka succumbed to the pair of Park Sung Min and Lee Han Bit 21-9, 21-14. Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) organised the matches following the proposal of the visiting Korean team.

“A Korean trekking team which included four national level players was on a visit and they proposed the NBA for a friendly match with our players,” informed the NBA General Secretary Ramji Shrestha. After the friendly match, the Korean team also provided the Nepali players with sports kits.
