NDA, NPC register victories

Kathmandu, February 26

Shivam New Diamond Academy and Nepal Police Club registered wins in the women’s section matches of the fourth NST-NVA National Club Volleyball Tournament here today.

NDA defeated Padmodaya Youth Club of Chitwan in straight sets in the Group A match played at the National Sports Council covered hall. NDA won the first set 25-14 and never looked back. They conceded 12 and 18 points respectively in the second and third sets.

In Group B match, departmental side NPC registered a straight-set victory over Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre. NPC won the match 25-11, 25-10, 25-12.

In men’s section, Help Nepal Sports Club and Nepal Police Club registered victories. Help Nepal defeated Manimukunda Volleyball Club 3-1. Help Nepal won the first set 25-18 before Manimukunda levelled the scores with a 25-23 victory. Help Nepal then won the third set 25-21 before claiming the fourth set 34-32. In another match, NPC beat Nayabazar Samajik Club 25-6, 25-9, 25-14.

A total of 11 teams are competing in men’s section, while seven teams are in fray in women’s category. Top three finishers in both categories will get Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively, while the best players will get Rs 15,000 apiece. The tournament is organised by Nepal Volleyball Association under the sponsorship of Nepal Satellite Telecom.
