NIHS claim thrilling victory over KCC
Bhaktapur, February 6:
National Institute of Health and Science (NIHS) registered a thrilling two-run win over hosts Kantipur City College (KCC) ‘red’ in the Wai Wai fourth KCC Inter-college Cricket Running Trophy here at today.
Batting first, NIHS were all out for 107 runs in 21.5 overs but defended the total packing up the KCC to 105 runs in 29.1 overs. Rakesh Yadav top-scored with 21 runs for NIHS. Suresh Joshi scored 13-ball 18 including three fours as no other NIHS batsmen reached the double figure mark. Most of their runs came through sundries (38).
Rupak Khadka took three wickets while Gyanendra Singh and Utsav Nepal claimed two wickets each for KCC.
In reply, KCC lost opener Anil Mandal (1) at three runs on board but Ricky Chhetry (11) and Rohit Rastogi (13) consolidated their innings putting on 43 for the second wicket. But after Lokesh Bhatta trapped Ricky leg before, KCC never recovered. The ninth-wicket stand of 33 runs between Gyanendra Singh (12) and Sanjin Dahal (11) raised the KCC hopes but they fell three runs short of the target with five balls remaining. NIHS conceded 46 extra runs.
Man of the match Lokesh Bhatta took three wickets while Subhash Yogi and Rajesh Yadav claimed two each for NIHS. Suresh Joshi and Jitendra Shah got one wicket apiece.
