Nilkantha thrash Herald International

KATHMANDU: Grace Academy, Lord Buddha School, Gita Mata School and Nilkantha High School advanced to the Group D quarter-final of the Central Region qualifiers for the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament here on Friday.

Grace Academy defeated Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) 2-1 in tie breaker after a 2-2 draw. Grace took two-goal lead in two minutes when Rabin Rana scored in the 12th and Philip Budha netted in the 13th minutes. Yangup Bantawa reduced the deficit in the 17th minute, while Tenzing Chhoyang levelled the scores in the 54th minute. On penalties, Chandra Sirmal and Madhav Yasmali scored for Grace, while Zengong Choyang netted for HIMS.

In the other match, Amrit Thing scored a hat-trick as Lord Buddha outplayed Manju Shree English High School 3-0. Amrit scored in the 25th, 35th and 75th minutes.

Likewise, Gita Mata beat Loyalty Academy 3-2. Pushkar Limbu put Loyalty 2-0 up scoring in the second and 19th minutes, while Ajay Kapali scored a brace in the 43rd and 46th minute to level the scores before Rakesh Thapa scored the winner in the 79th minute.

Nilkantha High School thrashed Herald International School 10-0. Sumit Thapa and Kumar Gurung scored two goals each, while Santa Bahadur Thapa, Ranjeet Timalsina, Ashish Shrestha, Sashi Khatiwada, Gopi Krishna Bhandari and Deepak Shrestha netted one apiece.
