Nirmala breaks her own record
Kathmandu, September 17:
Nirmala Bharati broke her own record to win the half marathon gold in the second Dabali Circuit Marathon organised by Gorkha Runners Club here today. The Nepal Police athlete finished the race in one hour 26 minutes and three seconds, beating her own record of 1:27:5 at the Toyota Kathmandu Marathon last year. Krishneshwori Sintakala and Haridevi Rajalawat came second and third respectively. Narayan Deshar of Nepal Police won the marathon with the timings of 1:32:57, beating Rewal Dahal of Tribhuvan Army Club and fellow policeman Chhiring Lama. The winners received Rs 15,000, Rs 10,00 and Rs 7,000 respectively.
Tribhuvan Army Club’s Arjun Basnet won the men’s half marathon in 1:9:3, while Armed Police Force’s Arjun Prasad Dhakal and Uttam Khatri of TAC came second and third respectively. Rajendra Deshar, Rajendra Kapali and Dinesh Maharjan grabbed top three spots in boys’ two-mile race, whereas Bishnu Keshari Kasula, Rabina Dulal and Sangita Lama did so in girls’ section. Kishor Bahadur Singh, member secretary of National Sports Council and president of Nepal Athletics Association, gave away prizes.
