Nepal Police Club won the title of the women's cricket tournament under the Ninth National Games here at the Pokhara Stadium grounds today.
Nepal defeated Nepal APF Club by five runs in the final to claim the gold medal in their debut tournament. Bagmati Province defeated Lumbini by seven wickets to finish third.
Batting first, NPC posted 89-4 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting APF to 84-7. Opener Kajal Shrestha top scored for NPC with 55-ball 27 runs, while Samjhana Khadka hit a boundary in her 21-ball 25. Kabita Kunwar contributed 11 and Kabita Joshi struck a six in her 10-ball 13. Nary Thapa, Indu Barma, Sita Rana Magar bagged one wicket each for NPC.
In reply, Roma Thapa top scored for APF with 26 off 19 balls that included two fours, while Rajmati Airee remained unbeaten on run-a-ball 12. APF needed 13 runs from the last over to win the match but Sabnam Rai conceded seven runs to ensure NPC's victory.
Ishwori Bista grabbed two wickets, while skipper Rubina Chhetry, Sangita Rai and Hiranmayee Roy bagged one each.
