Army make it three in a row with 371 medals including 172 golds

The Ninth National Games came to an end with Tribhuban Army Club winning the champions' trophy for the third straight time with a total of 371 medals.
TAC, who also won the seventh and eighth editions in Eastern Region and Lumbini Province respectively, bagged 172 gold, 110 silver and 89 bronze medals. Patron of National Sports Council Prime Minister Deuba handed over the trophy to Chief of the Army Staff Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma.
Nepal APF Club finished second with 219 medals - included 65 gold, 73 silver and 81 bronze medals.
In the Games dominated by departmental sides, Nepal Police Club were third with 61 each gold and silver along with 79 bronze for a total of 195 medals.
Home side Gandaki Province came fourth with 32 gold, 31 silver and 57 bronze, while fifth-placed Bagmati won 24 gold, 47 silver and 74 bronze for a total of 145.
Province-I Sudurpashchim and NRNA bagged 10 gold medals each, while Lumbini, Madhesh and Karnali earned six, five and two gold medals reapectively.
The Games featured 36 sports disciplines including two exhibition sports.Squash player Dhana Bahadur Ghale, 61, was the oldest athlete at the Games, while seven-year-old swimmer Ritika Bhumi was the youngest one.
March-past from Nepali Army and Nepal Police marked the closing ceremony, while the audience at Pokhara Stadium got enjoyment from B-Boying team along with renowned singers Ananda Karki, Milan Newar and Prakash Saput.
Students from various schools performed in folkbased song, while a group of artists performed kauda dance. The Pokhara Stadium was illuminated by fireworks at the end of the closing ceremony.
The 10th edition of the Games will be held in Karnali two years later. PM Deuba handed over National Games flag to Karnali Province Social Development Minister Yagya Bahadur DC.
