Karnali Yaks secured a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Pokhara Avengers in the second match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 tournament at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur today.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pokhara Avengers struggled, managing a modest total of 103 runs before being bowled out in 16.3 overs.
Dinesh Kharel top-scored with 26 runs, followed by Andries Gous with 25, and Ramon Reifer with 20. Skipper Kushal Bhurtel and Bipin Khatri chipped in with 10 runs each.
Karnali's bowling attack was spearheaded by William Bosisto, who delivered a sensational performance, claiming six wickets. Captain Sompal Kami, Bipin Sharma, and Yunish Thakuri each contributed with one wicket apiece.
Later, Willian Bosisto was declared man-of-the-match for his match winning spell of 4-0-28-6.
In reply, Karnali Yaks comfortably chased down the target in just 15 overs with the loss of three wickets. Gulshan Jha anchored the innings with an unbeaten 49, while Chadwick Walton added a crucial 42 runs to secure the victory.
For Pokhara, Bipin Khatri, Sagar Dhakal, and Kushal Bhurtel each managed a wicket.
This marks Karnali's third win in five matches, solidifying their position in the tournament, while Pokhara suffered their third loss in four games.
With this victory, Karnali Yaks ascended to fourth place in the standings, trailing Chitwan Rhinos, who hold the same number of wins but maintain a superior net run rate.
In tomorrow's matchups, Janakpur Bolts will face Sudur Paschim Royals, while Kathmandu Gurkhas are set to take on Lumbini Lions in the second fixture of the day.
