NRSON ready to drop their demand
Kathmandu, February 27:
The National Republic Sports Organisation, Nepal (NRSON), putting forth a condition today, agreed to drop their one point demand — resignation of National Sports Council (NSC) member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha.
The NRSON, which locked out the NSC offices since February 18, agreed to drop their demand if the NSC member secretary takes their seven-point agreement seriously. On Monday, a group of coaches also padlocked the Dasharath Stadium putting halt all the sports training and competitions opposing the NRSON lock out.
Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) today took the initiation to ease the deadlock. A three-party meeting of the NRSON, NSC coaches and the NSC Employees’ Association at the NSJF office agreed to ease the situation.
The NRSON president Dhruba Bikram Malla, acting president of NSC Employees’ Association Nabin Upretti, Wushu coach Pranil Dhwoj Karki and NSJF president Niranjan Rajbansi were present on the occasion.
The NRSON locked out the offices accusing the NSC of ignoring the seven-point understanding between the two sides. The agreement included fairness in staff promotion, making public the details of the expenses at the 10th South Asian Games and 15th Asian Games among others. The NSC and NRSON reached the agreement on January 14 after the NRSON locked down the NSC with a five-point demand four days earlier.
