Nuwakot edge Bhaktapur

Kathmandu, October 26:

Nuwakot edged Bhaktapur by one run in the inaugural match of the Region No 3 (Kathmandu) Under-17 Selection Cricket Tournament here today.

Opting to bat first at the TU Stadium, Nuwakot were all out for 46 runs in 12.5 overs but defended the total by dismissing Bhaktapur for 45 runs in 13.5 overs.

Raju Thapa top scored with 10 runs for Nuwakot while Dipendra Pudasaini and Pradip Aryal chipped in five runs each. Nuwakot were cruising along nicely until losing their seven wickets at 29. Bhaktapur conceded the fatal 23 extra runs. Rajan Buddhacharya took four wickets conceding 10 runs from 3.5 overs and Nirmal Kasalawat claimed 3-10 from three overs for Bhaktapur.

In reply, Bhaktapur fell two runs short of the target. John Joshi scored the highest 10 runs and Yasir Shah contributed eight. Man of the match Keshav Yadav completed a five-wicket haul to hand his team a nail-biting victory. Yadav took 5-12 from five overs while Dipendra Pudasaini took 2-17 from five overs.

Lalitpur will play against Nuwakot and Kathmandu will face Bhaktapur at the same venue on Monday.
