KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19
Bhairaja Panday won the title of the Pepsi Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played with ¾ handicap format, the 11-handicap amateur golfer Panday finished first on count back after he was tied with Vijay Shrestha Einhaus and Tendi Sherpa on 36 points. Panday had scored 19 points on the back nine, while Einhaus had 17 and Sherpa 16 points. Einhaus finished as runner-up in the nett section. Sadbhav Acharya bagged the gross section trophy with 37 points and the young golfer also claimed the most birdies award with five birdies. Tendi Sherpa won the senior category title with 36 points. Kashmira Shah claimed the women's section title with 32 points, while Rekha Ghimire came second with 28 points. Arshya Basnyat finished first in the junior section with 39 points.
Likewise, Marcus Doublard and Dhundul Namgyal bagged the closest-to-thepin and longest drive awards respectively.
A total of 95 golfers took part in the social golf tournament sponsored by Varun Beverages (Nepal) Pvt Ltd.
Marketing Head of Varun Beverages Nepal Hmantha Wangshul, Marketing Manager Pulkit Kandoi, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan gave away prizes to the winners.
