KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 16

Varun Beverages (Nepal) Pvt Ltd is organising the fifth edition of the Pepsi Open Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club.

A total of 96 golfers will take part in the social golf tournament which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed the organisers at a press meet today. Out of the total 96 participants, eight golfers will compete in women's section, while six will vie for junior title. According to Deepak Acharya, Senior Golf Director at Gokarna Forest Resort, 18 golfers will compete in both senior and open categories, while other 64 players will vie for overall title.

Marketing Head at Varun Beverages Nepal Hmantha Wangshul said the multinational company was proud to be associated with golf and Gokarna Forest Resort. "The ultimate aim is to promote the sport and golfers in the country.

We believe the tournament will be a great platform for the players to compete and we are looking forward to a grand event," he added. "We have also planned to make it a bigger event in the years to come."

Marketing Manager Varun Beverages Nepal Pulkit Kandoi lauded the efforts of Gokarna Forest Resort in making the event possible after a gap of two years.

The event, which started in 2016, was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic. "It's our pleasure to be associated with the Gokarna Forest Resort as we are making a comeback after two years," he added.

Acharya thanked Varun Beverages Nepal for taking the initiation in organising the tournament.

"We are grateful to Pepsi for continuing the event and their initiation in reviving the tournament is commendable," said Acharya. "We also had a discussion at length in organising the event in bigger scale in the days to come."
