Pariyar, Khadka advance

Jitendra Pariyar, Bikash Khadka, Pradeep Khadka and Santosh Khatri advanced to the men’s singles quarter-finals of the first Butwal Open Lawn Tennis Tournament on Friday.

Pariyar defeated Abhishek Pathak and Bikash Khadka saw off Sarbar Miya. The winners earned double bagel against their opponents.

Similarly, Pradeep Khadka beat Anjan Thing 6-1, 6-1 and Khatri outplayed Bhisma Kauch 6-1, 6-2. In above-35 section, Rajan Bijukchhe defeated Balkrishna Aryal 6-0, 6-1 and Ashok Gurung got walkover win from Sanjay Shrestha. Similarly, Krishna Raj Ghale defeated Abdul Sahmat 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the above-55 veteran category semi-finals. A total of 86 players are competing in the event organised by Butwal Lawn Tennis Club.

The top three players in men’s and women’s singles will get Rs 55,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, while the top three finishers in above-35 veteran will receive RS 45,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Likewise, the top three players in above-45 and above-55 categories will be awarded with

Rs 35,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
