Pepsi Open Golf on Saturday

Gokarna Forest Resort is organising the Pepsi Open Golf Tournament under the sponsorship of Varun Beverages (Nepal) Pvt Ltd here at the Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.
A total of 100 golfers are expected to take part in the one-day tournament which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed the organisers at a press meet today. “The players will fight it out for exciting prizes in men, women, senior and junior sections apart from longest drive, most birdies and closest-to-the-pin,” said Sr Golf Director at Gokarna Forest Resort Deepak Acharya.
“We are not going to disclose the prizes today as we want to keep it a secret until Saturday. But the players will get attractive prizes and awards,” added Acharya. “The competition will be fierce as we are just entering the tournament season after monsoon and the course is stunningly green with good condition to test the skills of the best amateur players from the golfing fraternity of the country.”
Nishi Lama, Territory Development Manager at Varun Beverages (Nepal), said he was proud to be associated with golf and Gokarna Forest Resort. “We had sponsored national cricket team in the past and we are also associated with motorcycle stunt event.
This is our second golf tournament and we have signed a three-year contract,” said Lama. “We are very much focused with sports and we have plans to sponsor others sporting events in future,” added Lama. “Our first golf event at Royal Nepal Golf Club was a grand success and we are hoping for the same at Gokarna as well.”
