LALITPUR: The All Nepal Football Association on Thursday appointed Australian Gary Phillips as the head coach of the national women's team.

Phillips, who had been working as the Technical Director of the ANFA since 2019, was appointed as the coach for one year from January 1 following the recommendation of the five-member Technical Committee, said ANFA on its website.

Before joining the ANFA, Phillips had worked with various clubs in Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. He was also the manager of Papua New Guinea's national women's team and he had also worked in the coach education department of Asian Football Confederation.

Phillips' first assignment will be to prepare the national team for the AFC Women's Asian Cup Championship 2022 Qualifiers.
