Deepak Acharya is one of Nepal’s best-known golfing talents. Accompanying his father Shambhu to the RNGC, Acharya started learning the nuances of the game. No later, he turned professional.
In 1998 Deepak received an offer to be the head coach of the newly formed Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa. Acharya deliberated a bit before taking up the offer. This proved to be the turning point of his career. His responsibilities grew from just coaching and managing the pro-shop to the complete management of the golf course and its memberships.
His involvement with Nepali golf grew even further when he became associated with Nepal Golf Association (NGA) and Nepal PGA. He is now actively involved in a project to bring an established pro Tour to Nepal as well as a project planned by NGA to promote golf at school and grass-root levels.
Acharya is also a regular contributor to the leading English national daily The Himalayan Times as well as the Nepal Times.
