Khadka sets date with Lissanevitch

Kathmandu, May 3

Pradeep Khadka and Ivan-ho Lissanevitch advanced to the men’s singles final of the seventh Citizens Bank Open Tennis Tournament here today.

Khadka bounced back from a set down to defeat Nick Rastrup 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, while Lissanevitch outplayed Pranav Khanal 6-0, 6-3 in the semi-final matches.

In women’s singles, Ashlesha Lissanevitch and Prerana Koirala made it to the final. Lissanevitch registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ira Rawat, while Koirala defeated Ganga Sharma 6-1, 6-2 in the semi-finals. The Lissanevitch siblings have already made it to the mixed doubles final and will face Santosh Khatri and Ganga Sharma.

Gyanendra Man Tamrakar won the men’s above-65 singles title with a 4-1, 4-1 victory over Gautam Lal Pradhan, while Krishna Raj Ghale and Subarna Dhakhwa beat Kamal Thapa and Chhyamba Dhondup to win the above-55 doubles gold medal.

Kamal Bahadur Bhandari bagged two gold medals in above-35 section. He defeated Chhewang Lama 6-2, 6-2 in singles final and teamed up with Mahesh Shrestha to beat Raju Shrestha and Simanta Gurung 6-3, 6-0 in the doubles final.

Likewise, Krishna Raj Ghale defeated Karimullah Muslim 6-0, 6-2 to set the above-55 singles final. Ghale will face Kamal Thapa, a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Sushil Raj Pandey. Also, Raju Shrestha and Chandra Shahi made it to the above-45 singles final. Shrestha defeated Manoj Shah 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, while Shahi beat Raju Rai 6-2, 6-0.

In the above-45 doubles, the pair of Gopi Bhattarai and Dharam Lamichhane set the final date with Sudarshan Bista and Raju Chhetry. The finals are slated for Saturday.
