Prez, PM receive honorary Black Belt
KATHMANDU:President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang received honorary taekwondo Black Belts from World Taekwondo Federation and World Taekwondo Headquarters (Korea) here on Saturday.
South Korean Amabassador to Nepal Hong Sungmog presented the Ninth DAN Black Belt to President Yadav on the fourth day of the fourth Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship. PM Nepal and CA Chairman Nembang were honoured with Eighth DAN Black Belts. Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali received honorary Seventh DAN Black Belt.
President of Nepal Olympic Committee Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan and Pressident of Nepal Taekwondo Association Rukma Shumsher Rana were presented with Sixth DAN Black Belts. Likewise, NTA Treasurer Rabi Raj Singh and Managing Director of Vaidhya Organisation Suraj Kumar Vaidhya received Fifth Dan Black Belts.
On the occasion, a group
of students from School of
Taekwondo at the Hang Zong University in South Korea demonstrated the taekwondo skills.
Meanwhile, Namrata Dhakal of Sagarmatha and Debika Tamang
of Bijeshwori advanced to the
last 16 of the women’s Under-42kg section. Namrata defeated Sagun Thapa of Om, while Debika
beat Sangita Karki of Ripumardini. Also advancing were Saraswoti Thapa and Laxmi Karki of Bijeshwori and Mamata Thapa and Reshma Thapa of Chaksikot.
In men’s below-51kg section, Jeevan Bhujel of Voice of Children defeated Anish Singh of Kailali to enter the pre-quarters. Arun Adhikari of Souraha, Binay Kumar Gupta of Birgunj, Uday Raj Pandey and Bijay Shrestha of Baba, Raju Gurung of Khumal and Him Magar of Voice of Children also won their bouts to advance to the round of 16.
