Malla wins Pepsi Open

Prithivi Malla won the title of the Pepsi Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Malla won the trophy on count back after he was tied with Bijay Bahadur Shrestha on37 points.
The winner was decided on the count of last six holesafter both the players scored 17 points on the back nine. On the last six holes, the scratch-handicapper Malla earned 11 points, while Shrestha, who played with13 handicap allowance, scored nine.
Malla also topped the gross section table with 37 points but he chose the nett category award as per the tournament rule of one-player-one-trophy. Tashi Tshiring claimed the gross category award with 35 points and also bagged the most birdies trophy for carding four birdies.
Rekha Ghimire won the women’s section trophy with the score of 32 points, while Gopal Chitrakar claimed the senior category title with 34 points and Sadbhav Acharya bagged the junior section award with the score of 34 points. Also, Pavitra Kumar Karki claimed the closest-to-the-pin award and Phuntshok Norbu Lama won the longest drive trophy.
A total of 87 players took part in the second edition of the tournament organised by Varun Beverages (Nepal) Pvt Ltd. Market Development Manager of Varun Beverages Sushil Ratna Tuladhar, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners of the one-day event.
