Province 7 crowned Inter-Province U-16 National Cricket Champions

KATHMANDU: Province 7 have lifted the title of the Manmoham Memorial Inter-Province U-16 National Cricket Tournament, beating Province 2 by 24 runs in the summit clash on Wednesday.

In the match played at TU cricket ground, Province 7 won the toss and opted to bat before scoring a total of 208-7 in their allotted 30 overs. In reply, Province 2 managed to reach just 184-9 in 30 overs.

Winner Province 7 bagged a purse of Rs 250,000 while runner-up Province 2 were given Rs 150,000.

Players of the champion team Province 7 dominated the individual prizes with Naraendra Saud, Rajan Singh and Hridaya Bithari getting declared as best bowler, keeper and fielder respectively. Likewise, Amit Yadav and Bibek Yadav of Province 2 were adjudged as best batsman and player-of-the-series awards. Best bowler and batsman were given Rs 5000 each while player-of-the-series was awarded with Rs 10,000.

Rahul Bhandari top-scored for Province 7 with 33-ball 38 that included two sixes and two fours. Roshan Sawad (37) and Hridaya Bithari (33) were two other notable contributors for the winning side.

Tournament's best bowler Bibek Yadav claimed two wickets whereas Bikram Kushwha, Samsad Ali Mansuri, Nikhil Singh and Trit Raj Das added one wicket each.

Province 2's Amit Yadav smashed 80 runs off 64 balls but that wasn't enough to save his team from the defeat. Likewise, opener Sahil Patel and Trit Raj Das added 25 and 27 runs respectively for the runner-up.

Manoj Lothyal was pick of the Province 7 bowlers as he took five wickets and he was supported by Narendra Sawad who added three wickets. Similarly, Mahesh Sawad added one wicket for the Champions.

Teams from seven provinces took part in the league-cum-knockout tournament organised by the Manamohan Memorial Cricket Centre.
