Pulsar Sports Award to be held on July 21

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum has decided to organise the 12th edition of the Pulsar Sports Award on July 21 in Kathmandu.

Organising a press meet in the Capital today, the organisation announced the event date.

Meanwhile, an agreement was also signed between the NSJF and the Hansraj Hulaschand & Company Pvt Ltd today that the company will be the main sponsor of the event for next five years.

The company's Executive Director Shekhar Golchha and NSJF President Mahesh Acharya signed the agreement.

The main sponsor will provide three Pulsar motorcycle for Best Male, Best Female and Most Popular Player title winners, along with Rs 1.5 million.

Speaking on the occasion, Golchha said the state should take more responsibility to promote the sports sector, as it has played a significant role in uniting the nation.

Similarly, NSJF President Acharya said the agreement with the Golchha Organisation would give a momentum to the event. He further said the organisation was fully committed to making this year's event more exciting and attractive.

The NSJF has been honouring the players in eight categories including Best Male, Best Female, Young Player, Best Coach, Popular Player, Lifetime Achievement Award, Para Athlete and Special Award.

The Most Popular Player will be declared on the basis of SMS votes s/he could garner.

The NSJF had decided not to hold the event due to the devastating earthquake and demise of sports journalist Suman Bhomjan in the devastation.

The NSJF has been organising the event around the World Sports Journalism Day (July 2) every year.
