Magar, Khadka claim PoY awards

KATHMANDU: Nepal International Taekwondo Federation honoured Purna Bahadur Magar and Soni Khadka with the ITF player of the year awards on Monday.

Tribhuvan Army Club’s Magar and Bhaktapur’s Khadka had won gold medals during the seventh National Games held in Eastern Region last year.

The federation also felicitated Gham Bahadur Thapa with the best coach’s award and Nawalparasi branch as the best association.

Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC handed over Rs 5,000 and felicitation letters to all the winners. The programme was organised to mark its 20th anniversary.

Meanwhile, the federation provided financial support of Rs 50,000 to former player and coach Suraj Thapa, who is suffering from kidney problem.

Similarly, Nepal ITF Vice-president Kalpadeep Rai handed over Rs 20,000, while coach Gham Bahadur Thapa donated the award’s prize money to Thapa.
