PYC defeat Ideal Model; RIBS, South Siders win

Sanjay Prajapati top-scored with 22 points as Public Youth Campus defeated Ideal Model School 66-59

in the Pool D match at the second Annual Father Watrin Men’s Basketball Championship, which has been organised by Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in association with The Himalayan Times, here at the GAA Hall.

PYC scored 16 points for a one-point lead in the first quarter, but they stretched the lead to six points, when they limited Ideal Model to 13 points to their 18.

In the third quarter, Ideal Model hopsters outplayed PYC and scored 19 points to PYC’s nine, and led 47-43. But PYC players bounced back in the last quarter scoring 23 points and limited Ideal Model to just 12 points. Kamal Bista scored 15 points for Ideal Model School.

In the Pool A match, Rishi Robertson netted 25 points in Everest South Siders’ 69-39 win over Ed Mark Academy. Sachin Shakya scored 13 points for Ed Mark.

In the Pool B match, Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) thrashed Ace Institute of Management 76-36 with David Bobalik scoring 19 points for the winners. Samip Thapa netted nine points for Ace Flyers.

The participating 16 teams are divided into four pools of four teams each, and the top two teams from all the four pools will advance to the quarter-finals of the 16-day tournament, which runs through July 9.

On Monday, it’s: St Xavier’s College 12 vs Himalayan White House College; Peace Zone vs Kathmandudes; and Two Star Club vs Ed Mark.

The semi-finals and final will be held at St Xavier’s School court.
