Rabin, Nabin share lead

KATHMANDU: Rabin Sunuwar of Green Land, Nabin Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti and Prashanta Bhashima of Tyod School shared the lead in the above-14yrs section at the fourth Nationwide Inter-school Annapurna Friendly Open Chess Championship here today.

The three players earned three points each to share the lead after the third round of the championship organised by Annapurna Higher Secondary School.

In the girls’ above-14yrs section, Binita Kapali of Annapurna defeated Sangita Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti to share the lead with Deep Jyoti’s Shanta Thapa. Both the players have three points each after the completion of the third round.

In the girls’ U-14 section, Matina Kusi of Khopring School and Bishakha of Deep Jyoti accumulated three points each to remain on top. In the boys’ U-14 section, Sri Krishna Prajapati defeated Ashish Thapa of Deep Jyoti to share the lead with Sushil Chaudhary of Nightingale and Rupesh Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti at three points.

Likewise, Purnima Jaiswal and Bina Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti are leading the girls’ Under-12 section with 2.5 points. Remi Maharjan of Annapurna and Sushmita Bhusal of Bhanubhakta have 3.5 points each in the Under-10 girls’ section, while Epran Shrestha of Deep Jyoti and Nitesh Yadav of North Point earned three points each to lead the boys U-10 section. The youngest participant of the championship, five-year-old Bidit Pratap of Moral Academy is second with 2.5 points.

Bijay Man Thaiba and Prajjwol Simkhada are on top of the U-12 boys’ section with three points each. The fourth and final round is slated for Tuesday.
