KATHMANDU: Top Nepali pro Sukra Bahadur Rai faltered in the first round of the PGTI Players Championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club on Wednesday.
Rai played a forgettable round of five-over 77 to share the 91st position in the INR 10 million event under the Professional Golf Tour of India. Rai faced three straight bogeys from the fifth and added another on the ninth to take the turn at four-over 40.
He faced the fifth bogey of the day on the 10th before carding birdies on the 12th and 13th holes. But Rai suffered two more bogeys on the 14th and 16th holes to finish the back nine at one-over 37.
Four pros, Varun Chopra, Tapy Ghai, Yashas Chandra MS and Mohammad Sanju are at the top of the leaderboard with the score of four-under 68, while seven golfers shared the fifth position at 69.
