KATHMANDU: Nepal No 1 pro Sukra Bahadur Rai made the cut in the Coimbatore Open at the Coimbatore Golf Club in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Rai carded even-par 72 in the second round of the INR 10 million event under the Professional Golf Tour of India for the 36-hole total score of one-over 145. He qualified for the money-making final two rounds in the pack of 16 golfers tied for 33rd position at 145.
Rai dropped shots on the first and sixth holes before sinking an eagle on the ninth to take the turn at even-par 36. He then faced bogeys on the 10th and 17th holes against birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to finish the back nine at even-par 36. Indian pros Aryan Roopa Anand and Manish Thakran were tied for lead with Sri Lankan N Thangaraja at 10-under 134.
While Anand and Thangaraja carded four-under 68 each, Thakran moved four places up to earn a share the lead after a round of six-under 66. Saptak Talwar, who shared the first-round lead with Anand and Thangaraja, fell to fourth at nine-under 135 despite carding a three-under 69.
Harshjeet Singh Sethie (67) moved up to fifth at eight-under 136.
