Rain plays spoilsport

KATHMANDU: Nepal shared points in the second consecutive match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers for Asia Region in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Nepal, who shared points with hosts Thailand on Monday due to rain, were forced to share the spoils with Hong Kong after their second match at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok was called off because of the overnight rain.

Meanwhile, Thailand and Malaysia recorded wins in other matches. Thailand defeated the United Arab Emirates by 10 wickets and Malaysia beat China by seven wickets. After two matches, Nepal are fourth with two points in the six-team competition.

Hong Kong and Thailand are at the top with three points each, while Malaysia are third with two.

The two finalists will earn berths in next year’s global qualifiers to be held in New Zealand.
