KATHMANDU, MAY 01
The ongoing final between Nepal and United Arab Emirates (UAE) that had been halted twice due to rain will resume on Tuesday.
Tuesday had been kept as reserve day in case the final was hampered due to rain. Since the proceedings of the match could not be continued on a water-lodged wicket, the match referee Sarika Prasad in line with the guidelines for the tournament announced to move the play to reserve day.
Following the announcement, Nepal and UAE will continue the match from where it stopped today. The finals is scheduled to resume from 9:00 am tomorrow at the Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Stadium.
The hosts, Nepal had won the toss and decided to field first. UAE has managed to put up 106 runs in 27.3 overs at the loss of nine wickets before the downpour stalled the game for the second time today.
Earlier, when UAE had scored 60 runs in 16 overs losing five wickets, the game had to be paused consequential to the rain.
The champions of the ACC Premier Cup will contest in the Asia Cup. Hence, both Nepal and UAE are keen on winning the finals with hopes of earning a berth in the Asia Cup 2023.
However, with the recent development of Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) rejection of the Pakistan Cricket Borad's (PCB) hybrid model proposal, the Asia Cup which was slated to be organized in Pakistan this September is in jeopardy.
