Rajasthan beat Chennai by 17 runs
Ahmedabad: Rajasthan Royals brilliant winning streak continues as they pick up their fourth victory on the trot beating Chennai Super K8ings in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2010 at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
Chasing 178 for victory, Chennai Super Kings fell short by 17 runs as they finshed at 160/6 in their 20 overs.
Matthew Hayden (19) and Murrali Vijay (42) started off cautiously but just when Hayden was about to cut loose he fall to a brilliant reaction one handed catch from Yusuf Pathan (1/26) of his own bowling depriving Chennai a sound start.
Murali vijay though had other ideas as he hammered 3 fours and 2 sixes od Sumit Narwal's (0/39) second over to brought Chennai right back into the game. Vijay was looking in ominous touch but once again Yusuf Pathan was there as he brilliantly run out Vijay to put the Super Kings in the spot of bother. Vijay faced 28 balls for his 42 hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Suresh Raina (17) soon followed falling to Shane Warne (1/34) before skipper MS Dhoni (21) and S Badrinath (25) tried to rescue the innings.
Just when the duo were begining to build partnership Dhoni was run out after colliding with Badrinath going for the second run as the target looked increasingly impossible to chase.
Albie Morkel (28) though put Chennai right back in the game as he clubbed Warne to three successive sixes in his last over to bring down the equation to 27 runs from 12 balls.
But Shaun Tait (2/22) deliver the killer blow as he took the wicket of Badrinath and Morkel in the 19th over to virtually end Chennai's fight and condemned them to their fourth straight defeat.
