Ram Limbu wins silver medal in karate

Ram Limbu won a silver while Ram Sharan Twati and Rabindra Dahal got bronze medals in karate on the final day of the 10th South Asian Games (SAG) here today.
Limbu got the silver in men’s 55kg kumite after he lost to Pakistan ‘s Saadi Abbas 3-6 in the final that saw the referees supporting the Pakistani player. “I am not happy with the silver medal. My target was gold, but the referees were the main hurdles in my mission,” he said. “If such refereeing continues, there is no point participating in the competition.”
Lama was also not given rest for the final as he was called just a minute after his semi-final win. “May be their ( Pakistan) lobbying was good. They even did not give us rest,” added the 26-year-old player, who hails from Biratnagar. Syngkon and Sri Lanka’s UGW Rajakaruna won joint bronze.
Earlier, Twati lost to Pakistan’s F Ahamad 2-10 in the men’s 80kg section semi-final. In the men’s 50kg section, Rabindra Dahal defeated India’s S Malpekar 9-2 for the bronze medal.
Sri Lanka’s VC Gunarathna won gold beating Mahmood in the final.
In total, Nepal won two gold (Kushal Shrestha and Sulochana Sijakhwa) three silver (Amrita Shakya, Ram Limbu and women team kata) and four bronze medals (Binod Shakya, Krishna Kala KC, Rabindra Dahal and Ram Sharan Twati).
