RCT record second straight victory

Kathmandu, August 24

Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) recorded second straight victory in the Martyrs Memorial B Division Football League as they defeated Khumaltar Youth Club by 2-1 at the Nepal APF Club grounds in Halchowk today.

In another match of the day, Madhyapur Youth Association played a 1-1 draw against New Road Team (NRT).

RCT’s Pukar Ale Magar broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, while Bidur Rijal doubled the advantage in the 90th minute. However, Suraj Raut’s goal in the injury time of the second half was mere a consolation for Khumaltar. RCT had defeated Nayabasti Youth Club 2-0 in their first match on Monday.

Meanwhile, Madhyapur took lead over NRT in the 53rd minute but failed to keep the momentum and conceded a goal in the injury time of the second half.

Rakesh Gurung’s goal in the dying moment helped NRT to steal a point from the match. In their first match on Sunday, NRT had defeated Samajik Youth Club by 6-1, while Madhyapur had beaten Khumaltar 2-1.

With today’s results, RCT are leading the points table with six points. NRT and Madhyapur have equally four points from two matches. However NRT are on the second position following the superior goal differences.
