Ravi Poudel clinches Indian envoy golf cup

Kathmandu, April 17:
Ravi Poudel won the Indian Ambassador’s Cup Golf Tournament, organised by Royal Nepal Golf Course under the sponsorship of Indian Embasy, here today. Played at Stableford Full Handicap format, Poudel — president of Nepal Assoication of Travels Agent — finished the day with 39 points to lift the overall winner’s trophy. Rabindra Man Shrestha finished runner-up with 37 points on count back. Ram Kumar Karki scored 36 points to bag the 0-8 handicap section title, while Chuda Bahadur Bhandari, who scored 34 points, came second. Col Kush Bahadur Thapa emerged the winner in the 9-16 handicap section with 37 points, whereas Sony Shrestha came second with 36 points.
In 17-24 handicap section, Brig Gen Mohan Bahadur Adhikari emeged the winner in count back after he was tied with former Chief of Army Staff Prajwolla SJB Rana at 34 points each.
Uma Tewari scored 33 points to win the ladies section trophy, while Mi Ran Kim came second with 30 points. Abhijit Mool was the junior section winner with 11 points. Chuda Bahadur Bhandari, with 33 points, won the best gross award, while Raj Pradhan, with three birdies, bagged the most birdies trophy. Lt Gen Victory SJB Rana won the Longest Drive award at Hole No 13, while Madhukar Yakthumba, who is also the vice president of RNGC, emerged the golfer nearest to the pin at Hole No 5. Charge de Affairs of the Indian Embassy V P Haran gave away prizes to the winners at the post-match presentation ceremony. Apart from Haran, president of Royal Nepal Golf Club Siddheshwar Kumar Singh, and captain of RNGC Deep Bahadur Basnet, expressed their views on the occasion.
