Region 1 Biratnagar beat Region 2 Birgunj
Region 1 Biratnagar defeated Region 2 Birgunj by 78 runs at the Birendra Memorial National League Cricket Tournament being organised here by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) under the sponsorship of Gorkha Brewery Pvt Ltd.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Biratnagar were bowled out for 182 runs in 48.4 overs. Opener Mehboob Alam scored 53 off 75 balls including six hits to the fence before being dismissed by Jaya Prakash Sarraf. The other opener Yashwant Subedi scored 28 runs before being stumped by wicketkeeper Prakash off the bowling of Sanjam Regmi.
No 3 batsman Dipendra Chaudhari scored 10 off 15 balls before being trapped lbw by Sanjam. Unil Shrestha scored 11 off 35 deliveries before returning to the pavilion and Lakpa Lama scored 12 off 20 before being run-out. Sarwajit Pandey remained unbeaten on 23 off 38 deliveries including two hits to the fence.
For Birgunj, Jaya Prakash Sarraf took four wickets conceding 27 runs in 10 overs, while Sanjam Regmi grabbed two giving away 28 runs in 10 overs. Binod Das and Rajiv Shrestha also pocketed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Birgunj failed to overcome the target and were bowled out for 104 runs in 39.4 overs. Opener Jitendra Pandey scored 20 off 41 balls before being stumped by wicketkeeper Manoj Katuwal off the bowling of Paras Lonia, while other opener Sanjaya Womjon failed to cross double figure and was trapped lbw for five by Mehboob Alam.
No 4 batsman Bikash Dali scored 19 before being dismissed by Lakpa Lama, while Jaya Prakash Sarraf, also dismissed by Lakpa scored 16 off 44 including two boundaries. No 11 batsman Rajiv Shrestha scored 10 runs, while Raj Mohemad remained unbeaten on eight runs.
For Biratnagar, Lakpa Lama took four wickets conceding 22 runs in nine overs, while Raj Kumar Pradhan grabbed two wickets giving away 13 runs in 6.4 overs. Manjit Shrestha, Mehboob Alam, Unil Shrestha and Paras Lunia pocketed one wicket apiece.
Lakpa Lama of Region 1 Biratnagar was adjudged the man of the match for taking four wickets.
