Region 4 Bhairahawa defeat Region 2 Birgunj

Region 4 Bhairahawa defeated Region 2 Birgunj by five wickets at the Birendra Memorial National League Cricket Tournament being organised by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) under the sponsorship of Gorkha Brewery here on Monday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Birgunj were bowled out for 101 runs in 41.2 overs. Openers and first down batsman failed to cross double figures, while No 4 batsman Kimon Ojha scored 12 off 40 balls including a boundary.

Prakash Sharma scored 13 off 27 balls, while Mosharraf Izhar scored 23 off 81 deliveries including a six and a boundary. No 8 batsman Binod Das scored 23 off 71 balls including a six and a hit to the fence, while other three batsmen failed to score for the team. In reply, Bhairahawa overcame the target for the loss of five wickets. Openers Shyam Chand and Basant Regmi failed to cross double figure, while Binay Tripathi scored 22 off 50 balls including two hits to the ropes. Shakti Gauchan, who remained unbeaten top scored with 29 off 81 deliveries. Gauchan, who was adjudged the man of the match hit two boundaries, while Basudev Thapa scored 12 off 29 balls.

For Birgunj, Binod Das took two wickets conceding 28 runs in 10 overs, while Shyam Thapa grabbed one giving away 21 runs in five overs.
