KATHMANDU: Rijendra Rajbhandari won the title of Kathmandu District Chess Tournament here on Sunday.

Rajbhandari defeated veteran Sitaram Agrawal in the seventh and final round to win the title.

Agrawal finished second with six points, while Himal Lama was third. Top three players received Rs 10,000, 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.

Former Nepal Champion Purna Man Karmacharya, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Dirgha Raj Joshi, Ritesman Shakya, Bishal Kumar Shrestha, Adan Adil and Gamvir Man Shakya finished from fourth to 10th position respectively.
